Not all of my land is open. Part of it is woods.

They would love to free range or go in the woods!

I have tons of predators too. I haven’t lost a bird in a very long time.

When predators found my birds we were having incidents all the time. Not all death incidents, just incidents where the cameras picked up predators trying to get in.

Oh ya. Why not other places? They are way cheaper and have better options.

Low minimums. I can only fit the three more chickens in my coop, and MPCs minimum for me happens to be 3 chicks. The only thing that's cheaper than MPC in other hatcheries is the designer breeds and bantams, because MPC sexes bantams. The regular chicks are the same prices as everywhere else.

But if you have say hundreds on your land, it would be okay to loose a few. They wont all get eatten and if you have a dog, it will protect the flock, so will a rooster but not as good.

I would be terrified of them flying over the fence to the neighbors side. They have a LOT of dogs.

The reason for the large amount of Saipans is to put any cockerels that don't meet my criteria will be added to the freezer. Plus, any extra cockerels I don't need will be going to the freezer. The chicks only come as straight run, so I need to get a lot.

My dog keeps predators away. And the cows scare away hawks.

Well if you have a dog, it will protect them. It is not likely they will fly right into the dogs either over the fence.

Or your dog would chase them. She has a dog, also. It takes a lot of training to have a good LSG.
