Farm chatter

By 'once they stop laying and you go to college' does he mean get rid of any that stop laying before you go to college, or keep any that are laying when you go to college but get rid of non layers?
I think he doesn't want to take care of them when I leave for college and I can't take them with me and he doesn't think you can sell non-layers or at least a lot of them.

I think he wants something better than butchering them. Also, doesn't meat from an old chicken taste bad?
Other than selling/giving them away or butchering them, there's literally nothing else you can do.
No. Meat from older chickens is very delicious in stews or soups.

I won't be able to sell all my non-layers. Like who would buy 20 chickens who don't lay and are old?
