Farm chatter

I sprayed my egg turner racks out in the bathtub with scalding hot water. I got a lot of the gunk out, just a little bit stayed. So all I need now is give my old incubator a good sanitization before I set it up.

Farther it is away from the heat source, & fan the hotter it is, an inch or so close to it is still hot, but not as hot.

The top thermometer is it next to the heat source which is still quite hot. This morning it was reading 102.3°F.

Away from the heat source it gets to 102.8 at times.

In the back away from the heat source gets to 104.2°F.
Oh wow that’s really weird :ep mine only ever spiked to like maybe 101 or 102

I moved the one EE that we still need to butcher into the Mixed Flock coop until we can. I'm gonna be moving the Sumatra into the bantam coop temporarily until I'm done with breeding more of my project Wheaten Crele Orpingtons.

Why haven’t you butchered her yet?

Him.

We just haven't had the chance, & my dad's work schedule has been wonky.
Oh, ok I thought you were talking about the hen that was internal laying, I think? Cant remember what you said was wrong with her.

Still waiting to do her in too. She either has a tumor, or has been internally laying.

She's not an Easter Egger.

It's pretty consistent in mine, it fluctuates, but rarely below 100.8°F, & never stays.
That’s so odd!! You might have a fluke maybe, idk. I thought I did at first but after a few hatches it did stabilize haha actually! WAIT!!! I just remembered something that might help you.

Mine actually ran hot the first time too I just remembered and I had to program mine a couple degrees lower than it’s supposed to be in order to keep it at the correct temperature. The turner also makes it a little hotter. There is a calibration thing I think but I’m not sure how to use it or exactly what it does so what I do is I just set the actual temperature lower rather than using that thing.

So for example, if it’s supposed to be 99.5, I keep mine set at 97.5 and that works. So I would try adjusting the temperature setting before sending it back as that can be a hassle. Not every incubator comes out perfect and they sometimes are a little bit off but I found that setting mine lower made it perfect.

I'm fine if one spot is like 100.3°F, I've incubated eggs in my old incubator with that temp, but anything beyond that is a bit risky.
Yeah that’s understandable. I’d try setting the temp setting lower than it’s supposed to be and seeing if that helps. It did for mine.
