I contacted an insurance agent 3 months ago about getting quotes for a farm and have been getting the run around. No local carriers will offer farm insurance to me because I have a log home.

So now I am looking into national carriers. Does any one else have farm insurance and a log home? If so, who is your insurance company?

Thank you!

Have you tried farm bureau? Liberty mutual? State farm? Do a search but I would try farm bureau first.
I am an insurance agent but not with farm bureau. I know they usually have pretty good rates.

Thank you. The problem appears to be the log home. I will try these tomorrow.

I think your best bet are Farm Bureau and State Farm.

I called state farm, the agent told me they do not do farm insurance.

The farm bureau is tomorrow's adventure. I also found some co-ops I am going to try.

I just don't understand it. I see lots of log homes around here with horses, sheep, chickens, etc......

I don't know why it's so hard to find insurance. Log homes don't have a higher burn rate, maybe it's the expense?

You might also look at brokers. They can give quotes for multiple companies and might be a help.

Are you a true farm or a homeowner with non domestic animals? There's a difference.

Horses to an extent and chickens are ok on home. Cattle not so much.
