Trying to beat the heat for the chickens and horses

You can notice at first the chickens were gaping from the heat.

Hubby cleaning a tub to fill with water so they have a tub they can step into AND drink in :)

Filling it with water

Had to fill the trought twice today where usually it only has to be filled twice

Rescue Standardbreds in the shadier area of the pasture

The rescue enjoying snuggles from daddy

Checking on the chickens after topping up the horses and no more gaping except for the silkie

She hadnt found the water as shes half blind so we dropped her in the water(Itll cool off her feet too)

Nice drink

There no more gaping :)

I love the idea of free-range rabbits!!! how do you catch them? (or maybe you don't...) are they tame? we have a wild rabbit that doesn't bother running when we come out to close up the coop.

The world's bestest lawn mower!!! Spitfire, model 1.0

Ima Big Girl helping with the lawn mowing.....and doing an outstanding job breaking the fence.

Little Lila scratching around.

Nosy Rosie striking a pose.

My little frizzled cochin. I think this one is a cockerel.

I'm having a very high cockerel percentage this year. Ugh...

I'm hoping this one is a girl. Not much comb or wattles showing. Even though they're only 3 weeks old, there's a CLEAR difference with this batch of chicks in the comb/wattle department.

How did you handle the heat without AC today Camille? You are lucky it's breezy there.. but still.. this heat was disgusting. One of my rabbits looks about dead from heat exhaustion :(

PS: Picture in quote is a boy.

1) Sometimes, rarely can we catch them. We don't really need to.
2) Not really no. They will come within a couple feet but don't like to be touched.

One is suffering from heat exhaustion today :( It is way too hot. They would be suffering if caged as well.. But this heat is just terrible.
