3 acres tell those little pork pies to be gentle, mama hurts - a spa treatment would probably make her feel better.

Hard to treat her like a proper lady when she passes gas loudly the whole time she is feeding her babies....lol. Boy, I get to laughing....how immature of me...lol. Deep tissue massage, mani-pedi, heated rocks, facial, waxing, md bath and other both ancient and contemporary techniques coming up for Big Girl the momma swine....

. I think I will cut the babies needle teeth tomorrow while ear notching them and all that.

Wow, you must have dangerous chickens if your kids have to wear helmets around them!! .....just kidding! I see the bike in the background, I just couldn't resist. :)

I also love the fuzzy butts photo and I've been looking at a lot of blue laced red chickens lately; is that a Wyandotte? Very pretty.

Yes she is a blue laced red wyandotte. I picked her for her color and a hope of a cream/rose colored egg. While she is pretty, she is flighty and does not like to be handled. Her egg is a splotchy light brown color. I have my heart set on a cream legbar, but unsure if that will happen this year or next.

Have fun, experiment, use the camera you have, don't be "waiting" for the perfect camera. Experiment w/ post editing processing, try different crops get an "eye" for composition. Remember it is digital pushing the button is free, the more pics you take, the more experimenting you do you will find what works for you and what doesn't.

I have a Nikon D90 but I'm pretty much using the autofocus or active mode most of the time.

For all the great photo's, how many of them are worked on with a computer before you post or save them? Wondering if I should invest in a class or not.

A few more pig pics from yesterday. It's really dark in the barn...I haven't taken a good photo yet of them so I apologize for that.

in the hot box

I spend many hours just watching over my new little friends....especially when she's laying up against a gate like this. She is laying down facing the open pen a lot more now.

3 acres you're a real gas - not that kind, I meant funny. I had no idea mama pigs released "endorphins" so loudly. That's a joke here, some medications have that as a side effect - so we kid around about releasing endorphins when we have family gatherings. What's worse than a merry tune, the silent bombs are deadly.

Now I've got a silly spell, I'll be up all night laughing every time I think about it.
