I have a Nikon D90 but I'm pretty much using the autofocus or active mode most of the time.
For all the great photo's, how many of them are worked on with a computer before you post or save them? Wondering if I should invest in a class or not.
There are several free and inexpensive post editing programs out there. I have used some of the free ones, but I really like photo shop elements. I am not very computer / techy savy and I picked up on the basics of PSE very easily. There is a lot of stuff, both artistic and just tweeking the pic for better light, shadow, composition etc.. , that can be done w/o any classes, just by practice and experimenting, but layers still gives me fits. I think the only way I will ever master layers is w/ a class. But there is tons, and tons of things that can be done w/o having to mess w/ layers.
Some people feel it is a stigma to admit to post edit work on your photography. I do my photography for my enjoyment not for a living, so I don't give two flips what anyone else thinks. For my photos I'd say about 60% have very basic post editing like cropping and of that 60% another 1/2 of that has basic light control, brightening or shadow control, and a tiny few will have more extensive editing but short of layers. I have several I post on FB especially that are manipulated for effect, the artsy type stuff that I really like. Things like these
All these were original photographs by me that I just played w/ the filters on PSE each took just a few clicks and moments to make. The fun was applying all the diff. filters to see what exactly it did to the pic to see if I liked it better or not.
Those pics are obviously "enhanced" but you can be very subtle so that no one knows work has been done too. I hate having power lines in my sunset pics, I am forever removing then with PSE out of my sunset pics. I can remove power lines out (and a 1/2 built tower) of my sunsets in less then 2 minutes w/ a few clicks and no one ever knows they were removed. (well I guess they do now!!! lol)
