I didn't know Jerseys had any white markings on them.  Interesting....

Is Lady expecting again?  (Wide cow)
I did not know they did either until we got her a breeder told us she was and she has all the characteristics of a purebred. She is expecting in May.

It's been a long time since I posted. Glad you guys are keeping the thread alive!

Got a few shots I wanted to share.. :)

The bearded lady again <3

Beautiful pictures as always Justine! Where did you get your wellies?
They come from Dan Smith in Alberta. I got them through Pleasant Villa Poultry. The male I have has the odd feather on his shanks, and that ticks me off. The hawk got my other male. I'm going to have to work with what I've got, or just use them for olive eggers, depending on how dark their eggs are :)

and thanks!

Feather stubs can be really problematic. I haven't had trouble with them in my flock, but I am battling white in the primaries on the males. Type is coming in great, so I guess it's just something else to work on. My females are improving too, which is nice.

Not a happy picture. We have a massive fire in the area (about 60 miles away). It's at 18,500 acres so far and not much hope of slowing it down. 2,520 firefighters are fighting this fire.

Here was my view of the fire today:

I've been told it's not all that hard to breed out. None of my girls have the issue, so at least there is that! I am very new to the breed, and not even sure if the colour is where it should be. What do you think?

Who/what is the gorgeous Bearded Lady - what a knockout!! Of course ALL your photos should be in the BYC new Calendar
Thanks! She is a Black Ameraucana. The BBS Ameraucana I have all have wonderful beards/muffs!

:( You all know how I feel about fires. There was a forest fire a year ago about 15 minutes from my work and I was having panic attacks all day. Stay safe!
