I've been told it's not all that hard to breed out. None of my girls have the issue, so at least there is that! I am very new to the breed, and not even sure if the colour is where it should be. What do you think?
From what I can see, their coloring looks nice. Great hackle feathers too. Watch their eyes, they should be changing soon. They should be a reddish bay color.

Not a happy picture. We have a massive fire in the area (about 60 miles away). It's at 18,500 acres so far and not much hope of slowing it down. 2,520 firefighters are fighting this fire.

Here was my view of the fire today:

This mornings report came out and the fire exploded to 71,000 acres yesterday. So horrible.

The way the lighting hit her face changed her eye colouring. I have no idea why, but if you look here - you can see how they are an amber colour.

So should be similar to a Ameraucana for eye colour then?

Aww, thanks so much!!

The comb on this cockerel took a beating in a fight with his father. His comb and wattles need work - thumbprint in comb and wattles are too long. But his type is fantastic. (Nice flat back and rounded chest) His eye color is what you are looking for. It is lighter yellow in young birds, then it changes right around 6 months of age.

Speaking of big combs.. My poor Blue CM is going to have it tough this winter...

As you can see, I have a lot of roosters right now.. So I made all of my hens saddles. (yes all.. I made like 50 of them).

I have a ton of roosters as well, and some of my hens backs are needing a molt. I took the worst culprit away (a Cream Legbar cockerel). I really need to start moving them into the freezer.
