3 weren't your twins born black, now it looks like they are turning brown? Maybe it's just in the sun light. Brown is a good color too. Hey mama sow has a right to lay around - try nursing all those piglets- who probably have little razors for teeth. Mama's are so good at what they do, it just looks easy.

Yeah, they have shades of brown and black to them. They were maybe more black right when born. I really enjoy that sow...thankfully she's very tolerate of me playing with her babies all the time! The babies are weaned and she is getting bred back to have more....the cycle continues! The babies now are pretty big and rough the heck out me when I am wrestling them....

This is a poor quality picture, took it with my cell phone...but I thought it was funny enough to share. lol
This is my LF Orpington rooster Oliver...sleeping in a nesting box. lol He used to sleep up on the perch with the girls but he now prefers the bottom row nesting boxes.

And he usually rests his head on the edge like this. lol

That's gotta be WAY more comfortable than sitting on a perch all night!....lol....smart rooster that Oliver...

. I hung out with some kids from Chicago one time when I was still in school in Iowa....they freaked out at flies and absolutely could not believe girls rode horses while watching the barrel racing at a rodeo we went to.

3acres.... I do love all of the farm pictures, but of your last batch these really stood out (to me).... I love the focus effect of the 1st one, the color tones and subject of the feed trough picture is perfect, the eyelashes of the bottle calf are just adorable and the flower shadows and color tone are just gorgeous! I don't have a farm myself... just my dogs, cats and chickens at the moment, but your pictures and many of the others on this thread are what makes it worth the effort to strive for the independence and other awards of farming life, despite the incredible work that goes with it!

Thanks! I really appreciate it! You bet, if you want a farm someday, you'll get it! I use everyone's pictures for motivation also! I've bought 2 houses now out in the boonies cheap and fixed them up. First one I sold for twice what I paid for it....this one is worth over twice what I paid for it now after an appraisal not long ago. I'm not sure if I could better myself quite like I did after selling the first one, if I was to sell this place and go for my land and such like I did??? Learning to live off the land and be self sufficient really has made me content these days, so who knows....

my little babies a few days ago, moving them to pasture....6 1/2 weeks old in these pics.

Always nice to have a sheep ram with the helping of the pig fence building...

I love all your pics but these two are my favorite. I just love the pig meets ram pic. The pigs curiosity and ram's gentleness with the pig is so sweet. Daisy looks so content napping in the sun, you really captured her fondness of her afternoon nap and I love her smile

Yeah, I suppose it's more comfortable in a nesting box...especially when you're a big 10+ pound Orpington rooster. lol I wonder if he fell off his perch some night end decided not to do that again??

I don't know what it's like to live in a world where girls DON'T ride horses! LOL It's sad that there are people that think these things don't exist..or can't believe it when they see it.

These are great pictures. Love the view of the tree line, very beautiful. And those pumpkins. You won't have to worry about finding some jack-o-lanterns for Halloween!! LOL
We had this big load of pumpkins donated to the farm the other day. Not sure where it came from. May have been the farmers across the road. Very nice of them. We get to give them away to people for donations, and of course all donations go towards our rescue program and caring for the animals. I snagged a couple of big pumpkins for myself!

You know, you could do a haunted 2 1/2 hour corn maze route! LOL That would be a great way to spend Halloween. Get lost in the corn maze.

Love those two little piggy pictures as well. Daisy looks very, very content.

Funny, we used to have three riding stables near us ( all have closed down due to suburban crawl) and my dad was always amazed that he saw groups of girls riding horses through the woods. He said he never saw a guy on one. Maybe they were busy stripping cars or something. I remember at the time the newspaper did an piece on "Girls' love affair with horses." They meant it in a nice way.

Hello, I'm new to this thread and just got a good camera. Here are a couple of the good pictures I've taken so far.

This last one isn't the best, but love it because I was trying to get the silkie and he popped up in the middle of it and he looks like he had too much caffeine.
