really love turkey!!

Funny, we used to have three riding stables near us ( all have closed down due to suburban crawl) and my dad was always amazed that he saw groups of girls riding horses through the woods. He said he never saw a guy on one. Maybe they were busy stripping cars or something. I remember at the time the newspaper did an piece on "Girls' love affair with horses." They meant it in a nice way.
As far as I've been around horses, which has been majority of my life, very rarely you see boys riding. Now that I'm a riding instructor, I've had 3 boy students in the last 4 years. That's not many. But, I'm wondering if it's because I live on the East Coast. And was born & raised in Finland. Back home, I saw a bunch more boys and men working with the harness racing horses. Maybe that was more up their alley because the horses go pretty fast.
I'm wondering if there are more men involved with horses down south, or out west. This may be a total stereotype and correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems more like the "cowboy country" over there.

But generally, horses and ponies always seem to be a girly thing. And that's ok, because I LOOOOVE horses!!

My dad rode horses and he was from New York. Not sure how unusual that is, but he was very good. Meanwhile, I, his daughter who lives in Texas, have never ridden a horse. Nor have any of my siblings, we love cows.

We live next to a farm that had cows on it, and when we were little we would climb up on the top of the fence and sit there with a rake, scratching the cows' backs. We totally tamed that whole herd, and these cows were HUGE beef cattle.

Xiao Casa wow, you were gutsy little kids, I mean if you fell off the fence the cows might have flattened you. Who knew they liked having their backs scratched with a rake? Neat story.

My niece has always loved horses and has even ridden mules on a friend's farm. I prefer having my feet on solid ground.

Well after our mom found out that we were doing it, she made a rule that we could only climb halfway up the fence. She must've been worried about the same thing. In general the cows did love having their backs scratched, but there were a couple who were scared of the rake.

As to the cows flattening us, they probably could have, honestly. They were extremely good natured but there were times when the cows would get excited to see us and come running and I'd think, "Gee, they could smash right through this fence and trample us if they wanted to."

I absolutely love photography and I have some wonderful farm animals to be my subjects...if only I had a better camera!

Don't let that stop you. A very good photographer got a highly commended for a wedding album shot entirely with his iphone in an international photography competition. (He didn't let on they were iphone till after judging, the bride and groom were friends, and he also used a regular camera so they had normal photos as well). My point being you don't need amazing cameras to take amazing photos. You just need practice :)

I second that.
I took a photography class from a locally re-known photographer who used a cheap digital to set up shots for the "better" digital SLR. Many of the test shots turned out better than the "good" camera.
