Sort of ironic that you posted some duckling pictures because I have one to post also.

This is Lucky. I guess I have a duck now. Somebody dropped it off at the farm today. They had found the poor baby in their yard during the last snow storm we had. Couldn't find mom so they brought the duckling in the house.



Can't leave the poor thing alone, Lucky wants to go everywhere with you. I walked out of the room for a moment and he/she started making so much noise! Now it's sitting in my lap, happy as a clam.

I know absolutely nothing about ducks, but I guess I'm about to learn.

I don't know much of anything about ducks... but could this one be a canadian goose? Looks pretty lanky and for some reason I just get the image of an adult CG when I look at it.

Good, looks like you got yourself a duck! LOL I see the bill on yours is much flatter and longer than the ones one the geese.
The only reason I mentioned it is out of concern that if it was a wild goose of some type it would fall under the Migratory Waterfowl Act and you would need permits to raise it.
Whatever your little one is... it sure is cute! Should make for some great photos!!! ((Hint, Hint!!!)

...welcome to the club! A month ago I had none and knew nothing about them.....now I have 16....lol. I love love love ducks now!!! That looks like a very nice one! Yeah, they don't like to be alone!!! I can't see enough pictures of all the stuff....especially ducks!

...welcome to the club! A month ago I had none and knew nothing about them.....now I have 16....lol. I love love love ducks now!!! That looks like a very nice one! Yeah, they don't like to be alone!!! I can't see enough pictures of all the stuff....especially ducks!

Well, so much for the duck fun. One of our workers took Lucky home.

She has 10 chicks, they figured Lucky would be better off living with the chicks than by itself here. I guess no one thought to ask me after I had already promised to care for the duckling.

They just pretty much came to get Lucky and that was it. I was pretty bummed, to be honest, but I guess it's better this way. If it doesn't work out for whatever reason, Lucky can come back. I think Lucky will have to come back sooner or later anyway, so he/she can live with other ducks.
And the guy that brought us the duckling, I think he was full of beans. He claimed he found the duckling in the last snow storm and last time it snowed, was well over a month ago. This duckling is 3 weeks old at the most. Either way, it's a healthy baby and LOOOVES people. Seems to be a black Swedish Duck. Does this breed even live out in the wild??

We're a rescue facility. We have taken in a load of Premarin foals for the last 5 years in a row. This year, we'll have nurse foals coming in in a few weeks.
We also run a riding lesson program, we have boarders and we run all kinds of other programs for people of all ages. It's a busy place.
