Farm vs. Feed Store chickens

I would not buy from a local supplier unless they were a reputable breeder. Feed stores get their chicks from hatcheries, so at least they should be disease free, which is the most important thing. You do need to do your research because the people working at the tractor store generally don't know chickens, and they often seem to mislabel them. Do your research, and if you really don't want males, get red or black sex link hens.
