Fastest way to stop a broody. Technique needed!!

Good! My silkie got best of breed and my seramas got BB and RB. I have another show in two weeks... different judge.

Maybe try putting her in a pear tree?!?

Dunk her, put her in a wire bottom cage and put a young rooster in with her. Sometimes if she lays down and mashes her feathers against the cage bottom and stays there, she can get enough heat to stay broody. Rooster makes her get up and move around. Just old enough to try to pester her, not old (big) enough that she will let him tread her and pull feathers. For her feather quality, if he tries a few times and makes her get up, she will turn her attention to tormenting him and it will keep her up and moving and get maybe thinking about a big rooster.

Definitely go with the fan and the water too if you need this done in a fast time-frame. I have had a broody in a broody cage take two weeks to break! She was determined and went broody 3 times that year.

Yup. Agree with all these. We put our broody Buckeyes in the chicken tractor. It does have a grass floor and nesting boxes, but they didn't recognize them. One we broke after two days, the other took a bit longer.

I agree with the rest. Especially if you catch her at it early enough, the broody breaker cage up on blocks works really well and quickly. The most determined one I've had yet only took four days.

The nice part is that you can often snap up wire dog cages with missing bottom trays for very little money as anyone with an actual dog wants the tray. I got a medium sized one for $8 a few years ago. Cut a piece of 1/2" hardware cloth to fit the bottom and zip-tied it onto the bottom wires. Ta-dah! Works for both transport and breaking broodies, one of my better deals.
