Father of the bride and I need suggestions... UPDATE 2-3-10

Quote:
Actually if I remember correctly, the video for the song was about teenage pregnency. I'm not positive, but I'd look into it before I chose this song.

Could have been a different Kenny song, but I think thats the one.

Okay, this is from way off in left field, but for my wedding, my dad picked Little Bird from Fiddler on the Roof. Not quite as current and popular as these other suggestions, but it's sweet.

Somebody suggested "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the roof....or maybe it was on one of the sites I found when I googled .... I've never heard of Little Bird....but thanks! I like original, non-traditional thinking...

My oldest daughter reminded me of this song....off an old John Denver album.....I'd sing it to both of them when they were little ( I can't really sing)......don't know if we'll dance to it or not, but I'd thought I'd share it....just a beautiful song to sing to your kids...

Ok here is an update ...with only 5 months to go we've narrowed it down to 3..we've decided to try to be unique AND meaningful. Alot of her friends have been getting married and using some of the same old songs.....she wants everything to be her own, different....she's a unique sort of kid anyway.

1). the John Denver song in the above post
...I think this is the front runner. I had her listen to it and big ol tears welled up in her eyes...like I said, I would sing this song to them when they were little girls..it means a lot to her and me....if we go with this one it will be hard on me.

2). A very little known Springsteen song.
We went to a Springsteen concert together and I love the fact that we share a fondess for him and his music, kind of a thing between us.....and she likes it because it is so original..and the lyrics are meaningful.

3).My Girl by the Temptations...
Fun, happy and unique....

So, what do you all think?

I vote for the first or second one. My Girl doesn't sound like anything special with your and your daughter. The first two have more meaning to the both of you and that is the point!

You're right Barkerchix, the first 2 do hold more meaning....and if it was my pick the John Denver song would be it. I can't listen to it without seeing her as a little ragmuffin sucking her thumb...I love that.....

kelseygirl, I bet your dad felt the same way.
