Faverolles Thread

OK, for those that have never seen her, and for those who haven't seen how she's finished out...here's that mille fleur-ish hen that I hatched from eggs I got from Misty last year.... :)

Were these developed breeding d'Uccles with faverolle bantam? We raise Mille Fleur d'Uccles and seeing these makes me think it would be pretty easy to develop other colors in bantam faverolles crossing them...Just a thought.....

Quote: No she's pure Fav, just a result of mixing colors. I think Misty and I finally figured out that her mom was mottled, and her dad was a blue salmon...
I tried working on mille fleur Favs a while back, since I have the buffs already to work with. I hated them. The temperaments on the offspring were AWFUL...boys and girls alike. Not worth messing up the good name of the breed just to make a new color....

I think that Millies also have vulture hocks, sometimes wings dropping lower.....eliz

Side note...these are such different chicks than any of the others I have had. The feather down is different, they always appear like messy little kids to me. They are also heavy..chunky lil things!
