I have Faverolles too and have a question. I have a 5 month pullet and she looks nothing like the others. Everything is perfect on her, but she doesn't have the fluff on her face. Is she a mix? There's another one just like her but has only four toes instead of the five.

Did they come from a hatchery?

Yes, they gave me 3 roosters too that I didn't want...
About my last post, I wanted to say she looked similar, just a little different shape and no fluff

It's not uncommon to see things like that in hatchery birds. They breed for quantity, not quality. I have one hatchery hen that's 4 years old, and she is an extremely poor representative of the breed. I have seen some pretty nice Favs come out of hatcheries that people have posted here over the last couple years, but mine isn't one of them... ;)

i have gotten eggs twice from thechickonthehill... mostly to work on the Mahogany's but i would love to work with B/B/S and maybe Lav as well... i have a Lav boy from another project that would work great for a lav Fav's project...
I think Pam Mynard is the only one left with LF blue, and temporarily the only one with LF black.

Were you expecting black? I know of only 2 LF black flocks, one of which has been dispersed.

I have 2 LF black pullets that I "created" from a Salmon rooster (Boulanger breeding) crossed with a Blue Orp/Fav hen. Elias's black chick is from one of their eggs.
I also have one Merlin bred black pullet, one Boulanger bred black pullet and two Boulanger bred black cockerels. So I have the beginnings of a small flock of blacks and still have the Blue Orp/Fav hen to use as well.

This is one of my oldest black pullets, hatched in January of this year:

This is my little Boulanger pullet. Shes about 5 months old:

And this my little Merlin pullet, same age:

I am getting very excited about next year's breeding season!
