Guys...I need a shoulder to cry on....
I feel like I'm going to be sick.
Except for one pullet, when I opened the box, all of the bantam whites were dead.
So are the LF black hens Cindy sent me.
So are the LF salmon pullets Cindy sent for n8ivetxn.
Two boxes, everything dead except for one pullet.
I've never had dead birds arrive before. I know the USPS won't actually do anything, but I called my PO anyway, they are looking into it for me. My PO is awesome.
I don't even know what to do right now....
Two boxes, everything dead except for one pullet.
Just wanted to let you guys know I have a quad of LF Favorelles for sale. Can only have 1 classified post for some reason. The hens I have came from eggs I got from Jeannine at Cloverleaf. I am selling alot of my birds due to my husbands decline in health. You can PM me for details. thanksHere are some pics

My postmaster is still working on this. He's going to call Fedex to see if he can get anything out of them, though I doubt anyone will want to take responsibiity.Yes, everything that is shipped express is automatically tracked and insured. BUT the USPS says they don't insure live animals, and won't refund anything unless they took 3 days or more to arrive. These arrived in 40 hours. The shipper has to file the claim, which she already has. Within 15 minutes of me calling her, she was already at her PO talking to her postmaster. I do have pics of every bird. Thanks.
Quote: Cindy, I was just on the phone with another chicken friend (pips&peeps) and as soon as she heard what happened, she immediately said that they probably shipped them with dry ice...she also suggested that I have a couple of them necropsied to see if they can tell if they asphyxiated (carbon dioxide) or if they had carbon monoxide poisoning...I don't know if it would make a difference in whether or not the USPS would do anything, and I'd be into this for even more $$...
Glad Dick is keeping that one male!!
Oh here is another idea. What about taking one or more of the ones who didn't make it to a vet to determine the cause of death? You would have it in writing then and would have a much stronger case against USPS.Yes, everything that is shipped express is automatically tracked and insured. Odd, that's the same possible cause your postmaster gave mine. He thought it sounded odd, but maybe there is something to it.Cindy, I was just on the phone with another chicken friend (pips&peeps) and as soon as she heard what happened, she immediately said that they probably shipped them with dry ice...she also suggested that I have a couple of them necropsied to see if they can tell if they asphyxiated (carbon dioxide) or if they had carbon monoxide poisoning...I don't know if it would make a difference in whether or not the USPS would do anything, and I'd be into this for even more $$...
