Thanks! I'm at the top of the Jersey Shore, about five miles inland, so I'm right in the path. Lucky me.

Got plenty of supplies put by, in case we are out of power for a few days. We got a good rehearsal for this with Irene. I feel bad for the people at the shore - they're gonna get slammed.

Good luck with the storm mame1616, I'm hoping we don't get it as bad as they say that we are. Those weather guys are usually wrong, they always seem to over hype things lately. Lets hope that holds true with this storm too.

Henry, I just want to say I love seeing your pics. There was one a while ago of a pullet looking out between two wooden slats that I keep in my mental frame when I look at my girls. They are at the flighty, chicken kung fu teenage stage. So funny. IDK that anyone cares but they have spent their first three days out this week. Its been so nice to see them on grass before it turns to mud or snow. never think chickens (or any animal) looks prettier than when they are one grass. I'll try to post pics. We are trying to get the last of the wood in today and picking up in case we do get a lot of severe wind.
Thanks so much. Yeah that was a funny picture. She is my best pullet (I think) That I got from Keesmom. I agree about birds or any animal on grass. I work on a raw milk dairy here in Vermont and always love going to get the cows out on pasture. Will have to bring my camera tomorrow morning when I go to work.

We always get a strong storm in October, with heavy rain and winds. Clears out the last of the oak leaves. Of course a year ago it was snow, no power for 5 days and a screwed up Halloween for the kids. No power is fine (got a wood stove and heavy duty coolers for the food), but the lack of running water for several days is a pain.

However we're far from the coast and don't have to worry about tides with this one. There is a full moon and astronomically high tides at the moment so anyone along the coast will have issues. So far it looks like the heaviest rain will be southwest of here too.

I presume you mean Ideal as in "The way they should be" and not "Ideal Hatchery" toe placement.

I can put up pictures of that

, assuming the girls will sit still for a picture. Given they haven't yet, I won't hold my breath.

Yeah ideal as in the way they should be not the hatchery haha. Yeah haha it is hard to get them to hold still.

Snapped one photo of one of the girls toes. I guess I was bragging a bit to much about them being "Ideal" they all have decent toes but had to pick a couple up before I found one that I thought was good enough to take a picture of. It still isn't perfect. Excuse the dirty feet. They are getting their last free range in before they get locked into to ride out the storm. Or I will still let them out into their run as its covered.

Snapped a few more while they were out. I am liking the type on this darker girl a lot. Hopefully she adds some useful genes to the flock.

Yeah I am not as prepared as you. But fortunately have food and a cooler and some water so I will be fine.

Luckily lake champlain doesn't have tides haha. Although the City or Burlington is pretty close to the water and the water management leaves something to be desired. But oh well nothing to bad will happen. Both the coops are up off the ground a little bit. We will just have some big puddles if it rains hard. I agree from to forecast it looks like it will be South of hear.

Unfortunately I work on one of the only dairy farms without a generator. So we will have to hand milk and haul some water if the power does go out for several days. But shouldn't be to to bad.
