Faverolles Thread

Hello, I wanted to get a few opinions on a blue faverolle cockeral that I hatched out he is about twelve weeks now. I also have a few pullets but it was to dark by the time I got to them for pictures.

Thanks so much! Kristen

Hi Kristen! I really like the blues, they're nice.... Tell us about those toes. Does the fifth one flip up? Are all of them on the ground? I'm not sure the pic shows enough. The 4th and 5th toes should be off the ground, the 5th one is upturned.

He would be considered a blue salmon. A blue salmon is blue where it is black on a salmon rooster, on the chest and wing and tail feathers. A true blue is blue over the whole body. So far he has good coloring from what I can see.

Oooh, the blue one is pretty. Adding blue to my wish list. Of course, it may be YEARS before I get my wish list fulfilled, because we're only allowed 6 chickens here. But someday, when we move to the country, I'm going to be the crazy chicken lady!

Ok I have a test for you :D
This is my first attempt to sex SF chicks, the trio I have came started.
So, let me know if you think I am right. I am a little worried about how much dark I am seeing on all but one of the chicks wings. I made these guesses optimistically though. My guesses:

I have some Fav bantams pipping. Can anyone tell me at what age I will be able to distinguish what color the earlobes will be? Can it be noticeable on down chicks or not until feathered? Thanks.

Any bantam faverolles breeders? Looking for a few. Help.
Try BYC your state thread and post, Faverolle Fancier club has a membership roll that may have some from your state and hopefully someone near you will be on this list... I would also check for major poultry shows in your area and visit/ask who may be breeders, besides they are interesting to go to......eliz

Anyone in the Washington /Oregon Area.......There will be the Pacific N.W. Poultry Assoc. Show at the Clark Co. fairgrounds, near Vancouver, Washington this weekend....(Saturday). Think Jeanine said it would be a Faverolle Meet and she will be there with some of her beautiful birds. Information can be found at PacificNWPoultryAssociation website as well as the Washingtonfeatherfancier site.
