Faverolles Thread

Just noticed my faverolles eggs hatch in 5 days.
Nice!

I have 3 beautiful salmon faverolles but one of them, Penny, is filthy on her back side! I think the stress of moving a few months ago made her poop quite loose and stained her under carriage. It's been like this for weeks, how do I go about cleaning her because it's quite unsightly! Any advice welcome

I think the best way is to soak her in a tub

Yes I put apple cider vinegar in their water probably once a fortnight and I also put a garlic clove in the water around once a week. I'll get her in the bath next weekend.

On another note, so Faverolles dust bath? It's all my sussex seem to do but 2 months down the line my faverolles haven't done it once? Is this typical of the breed or just mine?

I just hatched my first Fav eggs and my 2 week old babies love to go out and play. They dust bathe already!

I also have cochins and they have such fluffy butts that sometimes the feathers catch poo and they get all nasty. I have started trimming some feathers from below the vent and it helps a lot. It is not really noticeable that feathers are gone because they just seem to fluff up more, but there is still a lot less to catch waste and get dirty.
