Faverolles Thread

A tree fell on my shed this morning during the storm the shed held up but I moved the birds out of it anyway. My yard is flooded and its still raining luckly the coop and tractor were up on higher ground. I am going to put the Leisha blue salmon cock over the bourlanger hens with two hattrick hens one salmon and one blue salmon and the one oxley pullet and do a hatch from that breeding the splash salmon will go in with the oxley rooster to test his fertility along with the dark salmon hen from Leisha. Then the trio going to ChickiesMoma will be separated out until they are shipped. Then when they are shipped the chicks will move to grow out in their pen. Ha ha just keeping you guys up to date if anyone wants to place a request for eggs from a specific set of birds just PM me. I am really excited about the breeding between the Comer boy and my best 5 girls that should produce some nice hens.

I'm looking for some guidance....I inherited some EE's from my wife's papaw. He was sold "Ameracaunas", but the more I study these birds, the more I think there's some Faverolles in the mix. They have all the markings and type except for the feathered legs. What are your thoughts?

This is Fabio...he runs the show

They do look like faverolles mixes defently not pure but the beard on the roo says faverolles cross to me. The hen not having a beard makes me think she doesn't have as much fav as I believe the beard gene is dominant. They are some pretty EE's.

My little fav girl has layed her first 5 eggs in 6 days .. she's such a little darling ..

Its the hattrick and bourlanger hens with the hattrick blue salmon rooster. That has changed around now as I switched up pens today but your eggs are all from him.

your 2nd roo actually looks like he is a chocolate color but i don't see a beard on him and i was thinking that maybe they could be a cross with dorkings or OEG?

eta: if that roo is a chocolate, hold onto him for breeding that color! it is rare!

Well I see you made it to the breeds section Possum, that's good. Now I have Salmon Fav's and those roosters are definitely part faverolle, the first one looks almost pure, the second one does not have a muff, but he is a good part due to his nice coloring.

Hi everyone,

I'm a new chicken momma and was hoping this thread would be the right place to ask a question about my salmon faverolles chicks.

I have 2 14 day old faverolles chicks from Meyers hatchery, in a mix with 5 chicks total. Two EE's and a welsummer. They are all *supposed* to be female, but I was wondering about one of my favs.

One of them is at least half the size of the others, and has much less wing development. She/he is acting completely normal, eating/ drinking/ pooping and playing up a storm. She/he is also the sweetest of the bunch. Totally loves to be snuggled and is super curious, but drastically smaller and slower to develop
All the other girls are flying now, and getting feathered out.

I took pictures with my digital camera to show for comparison, but my internet quit working this morning so I can't upload them.. I'm typing this on my phone.

I was wondering if faverolles roo chicks grow much slower than the girls??? I didn't necessarily want a roo, but will keep this chick if she turns out to be a he. She.is my favorite! So sweet! If she is not a he then I'm worried about why she is growing so slowly.

Anyway, I know its hard to say anything without pictures, but in general, do the roo chicks grow slower? I would much rather call my little Bernice "Bernie" than be worried that something is wrong with her!

Thanks a bunch!
Andrea
