Faverolles Thread

Thank you!!! I had a couple of people tell me pink lol

I have seen some that are near pink but like a pinky cream color not true pink.

Oh, ok. lol I can't wait now to see if her egg will be pinky cream color. She is close to laying so it will be soon.

Just another question I just thought of. Are they all so perky? Mine when I sit out and let them free range she runs and jumps and just amuses herself. It is so cute to watch her. I think I am going to be hooked w/these guys! lol

Faverolles are a pretty interesting breed ha ha. They are very funny and sweet they also make different noises then most chickens which is interesting. Faverolles are a very sweet and inquisitive breed I was hooked after I got my first two hatchery faverolles.

Ya, I think I am hooked on them. So I will have to add more next spring. (The list keeps growing and growing!) Now I have to find someone that ships chicks for amercaunas and will I be set! lol

Chris she is better then I originally thought and could be good when she gets filled out. Her beards looks nice just dirty. I prefer a darker salmon color but that is all in the interpretation of the standard and personal preference. Show her and see what the judge says just know in Ohio you might be competing against some very good birds. You can also see what you get from breeding the two of them together maybe they will produce some good looking birds for you.

i've found my favs to all have different personalities. but most are very curious and will come running right up to see what i have for treats for the day. some will readily let me pick them up for a snuggle and others just trot away when they see me try and reach for them. one girl in particular bows her head for a little scratch behind her neck. i love it when mine do their 'giggle'. my oldest roo does an almost cynical laugh once in awhile when i'm working in the pen and he sees me do something dumb!

if you are close to Townsend, MA there is a swap at a fellow BYCer's house and the next one in October is supposed to be full of breeders with lots of different pure breeds and mixes. if you are looking for true amercaunas that might be a good one to ask for on the thread, i think someone has the pure ones. here's the link to a page a few days back https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=4830313#p4830313

Is Wry neck more common in Favs???
A second fav cockerel has just developed wry neck. I'm treating with MultiVits with relief so far, but noticed in the process that he has side spurs (darn! He was the one with good color) on his comb.
We're feeding Cascade Farms good expensive food http://www.azurestandard.com/shop/product/1045/ plus free range & treats & scraps, and everyone else is fine.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Laurie

could you be having issues with botulism and it is not actually wry neck? they could have picked it up from ranging. or maybe a plant they ate and shouldn't have?

you'll have to show me what side spurs are. i am a little new to some of these things to look for.
