He's a Coronation Sussex X black faverolles. While it is the color I'm trying to make it isn't one I had expected to see in the F1 generation. All the chicks should have been black and were from 2 of the hens. The 3rd hen produced all yellow chicks that matured looking like this boy. I have him and one F1 hen with the same columbian pattern and 5 toes on each foot.

The first F2s are due to hatch this week. I'm interested in seeing what they look like. I lost one black hen over the winter, so I'm not sure I still have the one that gave me yellow chicks.

HI, does anyone have any thoughts why the white Coronation coloration comes thru so often????

I too have about a dozen splits and about one third are this coloration. Mom is LF Salmon, Roo is a Barnevelder cross, all chicks have 5 toes and most have beards.

Hopefully Dick or Peter can chime in on this one. It is weird, and it never came up with all the combos I put into the online genetics calculator. I'm guessing there's something hiding somewhere that doesn't come up with the calculator....

i'm really kind of a sal 1st n utmost. wht next n then blk fav guy. past that dick would know a whole bunch more. the blue n lav are new to me.

Pics are great Peter...I've only been hatching Lav. Splash from my birds, as you well know, but the blues and blks arent to bad up to this point. Heres a couple pics of some girls (Peter you've seen these already

)... I know they still need work, but with each hatch I'm seeing "progression", so I'm pleased with that. Decent beard/muffs and very nice toes so far. Please excuse the 'naked butts...molt has begun
