Faverolles Thread

Just an FYI...I'm trying to go through my broody babies, and it seems I have at least a trio of culls in LF available. Culls, just because they aren't making the cut to stay here, they'll still be nice birds. The male is really slow to feather, and the girls have less than fantastic toe spacing. They are too young to ship. PM me if interested....

One of my 6 month LF Salmon Faverolles hatched from Cloverleaf's eggs was sitting in the nest box today! I had heard her fussing out in the coop and went to see what the commotion was about. By the time I got down there she was sitting on the next box very focused with my BCM pullet, (one of her hatch mates) watching her very concerned. I checked a while later and didn't find an egg but I am feeling encouraged. Both of the Faverolles sisters have been even friendlier than usual lately I've noticed. Come on Faverolles girls - I'm counting on them to be my winter layers!

I have a random question....... how do you pronounce faverolles?

Is faverolle one and faverolles more than one.. or is it just always faverolles?

Is it French?

I'm saying it as "favor-oles"

It is French - probably the best known French breed. (I'm sure there are others but we won't mind them.) FYI - The roster or cockerel (reports conflict) is the national bird of France, so they like their chickens! Certain meals there are only allowed to be created with a faverolles.

I say the "fav" part like "have"

And it's spelled faverolles whether there's one or a hundred, except that you don't say the "s" when you talking about only one.
