Faverolles Thread

Every time i think of just going with the LF, those darn Bantams are just too cute....BUT,,,,,,in looking at your bottom banner, you have other chickens ( unless these are the Bantam Favs????)....just know that Bantam Favs. are easily intimidated by other breeds and may be best separated from them....
That is good to know. I had asked the breeder about putting them with LF and she said that the Bantams didn't do we'll with the larger birds (I'm learning)... I didn't think about them being intimidated by the other bantams. I do not Currently have any LF...I have been trying to decide whether or not I was going to put them all in a big run or make several smaller runs ( I was leaning more towards the multiple smaller ones).... Any input will be very welcome..... Yes those Bantams sucked me in before I knew what hit me. That is why I have several different breeds of Bantams. LOL! I didn't originally plan on getting the Faverolles, I went for the Cochin Bantam, and came back with 3 different breeds and 2 BB Red Bantam eggs that I have in a friends incubator.

Okay thanks
Do you have a preference?

Some people like bantams. They're small, don't eat as much, don't leave as much to clean up, take up less space and mature more quickly. Others, like me, prefer LF. I just like big birds.
Thank you

Oh, Ok, since they are bantams too, then maybe they can be ok together....Its a trial and error kind of thing especially if the others are already established..... Big roomy runs are nice.... Even so i would have several feeders/waterers. I have a bantam silkie, D'Anver and a Cochin who seem to hold their own in the LF barn/free range group....

Ok Thank you, so far they are all together.

Help!! I have a beard assassin! At first I thought I was imagining it, but then my rooster showed up with no beard at all!! Even the cochins and brahmas are losing their chin feathers. I have plenty of room, and things to occupy them. I think it's happening when they're gathered waiting for the door to open in the morning, or in the afternoon when they all gather together to preen. Isn't there anything I can put on the beards to prevent this?? I can't catch the perpetrator in the act, so I need something else.
