Faverolles Thread

LOL Too funny! I JUST posted over on another forum that I think I am a "Chicken Hoarder" as a friend that works at a local co op said the have sexed pullets: Sussex, Blue Cochin and Jersey Giants and I instantly want them! (I AM refraining as I have a ton of cuteness right now! Although I don't have a GJ and would make a nice addition to my variety? Hmm MUST refrain)
LOL I really know how you feel!! I could not resist blue cochins!

LOL I didn't make it to the co op and I am sure they are probably sold by now. Whew! I resisted! I have tried in the past 3 yrs to add 3-5 per year-hatched 13 2 wks ago-not sure what happened there? LOL Just saying a prayer that the boy to girl ratio is in my favor.
haha that is probbaly a good thing if you are anything like me... the car would have been stacked full of chicken cages!!

wishing you many pullets!

Alright here are some updated photos of my faverolles chick "Britches" now 5 weeks old, I am really leaning towards pullet, as I am thinking there would be more solid black rather then black tipped feathers if it were a cockerel, am I right in my thinking? despite male or female Britches has really come out of the shell and really enjoys climbing into my lap and has taken to perching on top of the waterer. I am hoping to get the chicks into their coop full time this week as they have almost out grown their brooder, hopefully the weather stay in the 80's like they call for.. they are just so much fun I think I will miss them in my house lol :)

here we are finally getting some back and tail feathers in :)

Just thought I'd post a couple photos of my Faverolles, Turbo. She came from the feed store at a day old and earned her name by buzzing around the brooder at warp speed. She's about 11 weeks old now and is definitely my favorite so far.

I'm pretty certain that is a pullet as well, she may not fit the exact typical breed color for a hen, but she looks like a sweet and pretty girl. One of my pullets had a lot of speckles in her breast too. People thought it was very pretty, someone bought her a few weeks ago. Please post pics in a few more weeks if you can, she may get more white after the juvenile molt.

Thank you, I will for sure post pictures in a few weeks it is fun to see how they change and so quickly at that, I hope that she will lighten up at least in the chest, but she still is very pretty despite her off color, I just love her, she is the sweetest chick!

It is a pullet. Unfortunately it is likely she will always have a black chest.

She's so pretty! Mine is only about two weeks. I'm so anxious to see how she feathers out!
