i think using the brahma lines might work in creating the MF colors too! i have one bantam buff brahma pullet and two LF light brahma pullets in my coop and i was thinking that they would help create some neat crosses while helping to keep the foot feathering.

i was thinking crossing mottled or white houdans into the blood would help to keep the beard, muff, 5th toes and the white skin while adding some colors to the favs. the only problem i could see with using the mottled would be the feet would have slight mottling and the V comb could show up.

does anyone know how to keep the 5th toes in the breed though? is it easy to introduce back to a line or will it always be a problem?

The white and mottled houdans will both result in white offspring. The buff brahma will produce sex-linked chicks and the lights will produce incomplete columbians, possibly with red shoulders.

i think i found a way to make the mahogany color in the calculator. in the top section select salmon as the main color, in the bottom section you can switch out the dominate colors. switch the 'ground color' to red, the 'pattern' color to black, and the 'pattern' to wheaton. you can do this for either the roo or the hen.

A mahogany faverolle is a black patterned red wheaten. You can select it from the list.

I have a blue salmon and salmon trio in the BST section. I need to make room for the 3 new salmon hens and one new blue salmon rooster I am getting soon.

How did the hatch go any more action?

one is out and looks fine, the other under my cochin had a small pip hole crusted over and it just didn't seem to thrive, i tried since 8:30 this morning to help it out of the egg gradually and it seemed like it was working fine using a warm damp towel. it was working till i tried to put it back in with momma and her brood but she ended up killing it due to it being deformed, it's belly didn't seem to seal up after it absorbed the yolk. momma hasn't been very devoted the last 2 days to sitting constantly on the eggs since the other chicks hatched and i put chick food into the pen with her.

i'm crossing my fingers that the other 6 eggs still in the bator will show signs later that they are going to hatch. every one seemed to be developing fine so i don't understand if i don't have a few more hatch!
