Faverolles Thread

HI Everyone!!

I'm so excited I could tinkle! I'm on day 19, in lockdown (sounds so high tech and covert, doesn't it!), with 11/12 fav eggs from pasofinofarm ready to go! (Well, 2 of them I stuck under a broody). I didn't have as much luck with the 5 maran eggs as only 1 is in lockdown - the others never developed from day one, but such is life! I can't wait! This is my first hatch and my first favorelles. Heck, this is the first year I've ever owned a chicken.

We can't keep all of them and my daughter wants to show the best ones at the fair this year. Will you guys help me pick out the best ones once they get old enough? How old do they need to be when you can spot the non-show quality ones so we can resell them locally?

There are a few things you can pick out almost right away like toe placement and combs but then you have to wait to see type and color when they are older. Congrats hope you get a bunch of chicks to hatch!

Ok guys I caught the new blue salmon boy from Leisha mating one of the new hens I am really excited this wasn't a boy trying to mate the eggs are defently being fertilized by him! I am so phyched I can't wait to hatch out some of his chicks with the Bourlanger girls and also my nice hattrick girls. I am jumping up and down for joy. Am I weird ha ha? The bantam chicks are all going to live with Baregretchen and I am getting a beautiful polish hen. I set my Silver Penciled Rock bantam eggs and the Lavender, Millie fluer, and Butterscotch D'uccles eggs are on their way! The girls are looking really good and are ready to be shown. Now I just need to find homes for all of the LF cockerels I have 3 extras!

Its only about half an hour or forty five minuets away I will be there the whole time. I have my own car so its pretty easy to get there and back home. They are already entered I did that over a month ago and washed them earlier this week. Its getting closer and I am really excited about it. I am getting the columbian wyndotte and the polish hens. Its should be fun!
