Faverolles Thread

If you breed Salmon back to the white sports you will get some salmon that carry white (recessive white) and some whites that may turn tan later but will never turn true salmon... Clear as mud?

Your dark ones should finish like the ones below but look scrambled right up until their color sets at a year or so... that is why I breed older birds... Faverolles tend to change later than most birds... and while it is easy to spot a bad one early... good ones can 'go bad' kind of late. Also note the darkness and lacing on the back of the neck of the hen.

Well, I don't know that I have a "plan" yet per se....at first I wasn't going to keep any whites that I got....but my favorite chick ended up being white (I don't know if you saw the pic of your chick that I said looked like a little old man with it's big poofy beard, just needed a cane)...so now I'm brainstorming that if I kept male and female whites and put them with my salmon flock, well....just still trying to sort things out...hadn't ever heard the term "sports" before, and assumed that was the ones that turned tan....??? Might be interested in doing a line of whites down the road too...
