I also have f1+2; 7 f1 and 5 f2... got each # under a different hen so if all goes well I should not need to mark them. From what Dick was saying the 2 pens should be easy to tell apart once they have their second moult. One will have the cockerel producing color and one will have the pullet producing color... email Dick for the details though, too complicated for posting here.

I'm not double mating yet, just talking about it.

I'm planning on doing a small experiment soon. I'm going to put my darkest male with two of my darkest hens for a cockerel line. I have the pullet line already. I'll probably breed for cockerels for about two years. It is said if you breed a cockerel line and a pullet line and then you breed one of the cockerels to hens from the pullet line you will get a lot of crap. That's the theory, I just want to test it. In my opinion, and only my opinion,

many of the males I feel are mostly pullet breeders. We have a lot of fabulous hens out there. In trying to improve the pullets/hens in the past I feel we didn't give the males enough attention. The males are suppose to have the mahogany red on the back and wing bows I've seen a lot of males with the brassy wing bows and not much red on their backs, and in my opinion these males are great pullet breeders. Now in the females, they're suppose to have a creamy white chest, looking at some of my hens they have a pure white chest, very attractive, but I feel they should have a salmon casting in the chest to give it that creamy white look. I would not send eggs out from a cockerel line and a pullet line without the buyers knowledge of what he/she would be getting. This is strictly my opinion, in the talking stage, and soon in the experimental stage.
What I am talking about here is mostly for showing purposes, to just have a few Faverolles running around in your backyard..... I can't think of a better breed to have, they're attractive, different color scheme between male and females, and for the most part very docile.

Hey guys Dick wanted me to show you this picture these are the LF buff faverolles that Ed Willoughby had but no one showed interest in them so they were lost and it will take years to create anything like them again! I think they are incredibly beautiful wish they were still around.

These are also some mottled bantams that Dick had also were lost when there was no interest.

Keep up the good work and we can have some great colored favs as long as we build support for the new colors being worked on. I believe there are Ermine, Lavender, Lavender Salmon, and Millie Fluer in the works in all different places.
