Faverolles Thread

I am new to all this but I am so in love with this breed. What I want is to be in my 70 and still be tottering around the backyard with the descendants of the birds I have now! I also want all my neighbors to have them to

Oh yeah you will live that long and it would be very memorable to see your great, great, great and more great grandkids of your original flock! Take pictures and make some pedigrees out of them LOL!

I will try and take pictures every year. I also actually think my parents taking care of them will just add even more family value to the line! It will be great to think back and think about how my parents spent there time supporting my crazy chicken hobby and caring for the flock.

Yep I think Leisha, You, me, and Cindy! and Cindy and I are just getting our birds from Leisha. Not sure there may be others I don't know about. Ya I completely understand its a struggle to get new colors in rare breeds recognized I wish more people were into faverolles they are the best and most beautiful chickens in the world. Silkies drive me crazy ha ha

Well, you and me and David maybe? Dick, have you heard back from him to see if he has some of Leisha's blues?

We need at least 5 dedicated breeders to start with, before we can do anything else. Dick knows all the exact requirements on getting a new color accepted. Hopefully he will post them here!

BTW we have silkies too.

They're Katherine's favorite poofy heads. They can't see, can't fly and can't escape a 4 year old trying to pick them up.

I have those requirements from Dick and Peter somewhere in my email I will get them out tomorrow if I am not to busy I have class and have to get ready for graduation. I think Leisha said that David got at least one pair maybe more though I think he picked up a good number of birds form her. Because Leisha doesn't have any more blues and I don't think Dick currently has blue but I could be wrong. It would be You, Me, and David and maybe a few non BYC members.

One day I'll be a grown up chicken farmer instead of newbie. Sounds like this breed is in real need of some good breeders with the dedication to it. I'd love to have a breeding flock of these banties. But one step at a time.... Must hatch eggs and learn more about the standards, good types, etc. But then... I AM IN!!

yes, David bought a pair of blues from me.

My goal for the rest of the year is to concentrate on the salmon. I am trying to get a cockerel line going with the correct mahogany color on the back and wings. I already have some around 5months old that look promising. My pullet line is headed in the right direction. I also have whites(silver whites), buffs (working on them too), a few blacks. We still have the incubator running. Hatches due Wednesday, next Wednesday and the following Sunday. My husband said there is no reason to shut it off now. LOL

Yep thats him. Welcome to BYC Leisha!

Now he has become the traveler.

Yes he is!! He doesn't seem to be a big fan of the Oregon rain though! LOL Great to see you here Leisha!!! While we're on the subject, how many blue salmon breeders do we know of??

There are a few in the club. I have heard there are some on the east coast, but not sure who they are.
I kept one roo, just because of his color. I like the roo colors, but not a fan of the hens.

I didn't really like the color of the blue salmon hens it seemed to me just to be washed out salmon. Though the girl I sent with him was nice very light blue it was very pretty
