She perked up a bit this morning I am at work now so I will give you a longer update when I get home the problem I think is she is still a little confused about which way is up which makes it hard for her to eat and walk. I think something must have happened to her in route to my house if this isn't wry neck or when she got here she got freaked out or something because she wasnt like this when I got her.

Just thinking about it more makes me think back to when I bred excotic finches. If you moved them to a new cage without a nighlight and they couldn't roost in the normal way they would panic. I think maybe the same thing happend to this girl because she was ok when we got home if a little stressed and the next morning when I went out I thougt she was dead! I guess maybe the stress of moving and also not having the use of one eye and also being in a cage with other chickens took its toll. It could still be wry neck but her lack of full recovery is throwing me off. We will see how she is when I get home and I will let both of you know. I really feel terrible she is such a beautiful bird and looked like she was going to recover hopefully she still will.

I always had a night light on in their room in the barn and also a radio. Maybe that could be part of it.

I bet that is it. Its something I usually remember to do and the splashes had a night light and so does the main coop but not in the room this girl was in! I only have two nightlights. Well I will do my best for her and keep doing the hand feeding and vitamin E hopefully she turns around.

I would like to request a rooster critique to help me decide which of my 4 Faverolles roos would be best to keep as well as to educate my eye. Honest assessments please - I will not get my feelings hurt and I need the education. I would like to keep 1 Salmon and 1 White. Which of each color do you think are the best and please list ANY faults that you see. All of these are LF, not bantam.

Rooster #1 (Emmett) is one year old - he actually had a magnificent beard but his hens keep plucking him:

I forgot to take close pics of his toes but he has one that has the 4th & 5th toe webbed - very similar to roo #2.

Rooster #2 (Apollo) is 17 weeks old:

I want to hear the feedback on your favs too. We are new to showing and the breed and have been trying to self educate. Great help here from this group.

Question I have for the faverolle experts is: How tight should leg bandettes be? Gabby has wanted to band her birds so she can keep records of everyone. It is easy to tell on her clean legged birds but how should it fit on the feather legged favs. On her clean legged birds the bandettes can spin freely. Right now we have size 7, they fit more light a cuff bracelet, it is not tight but fits snug. Worried that there is little room for any air movement. Should they fit looser?
