Faverolles Thread

Chickie'smoma - yes 6 birds but by my chicken math they only count as 2. Havent you seen the chicken math thread it's hilarious!! You can make "40" birds look like "5" if you justify it right! Looooove iiiit!

Leisha you were definitely a salesman but then I was an easy target. Heehee. But for the sake of comraderie I'll call you an enabler!

Right now I'm working on the large lavender salmon Faverolles and the large lavender Faverolles. Next year I'll be starting to work on the bantams, again, lavender salmons and lavenders. What other breeds are you working on.

The whites are bantams right. I have 3 silver white pullets, 2 white cockerels and 2 white pullets with a little bit of salmon on their heads.

yes wht btm. didn't mean to sound like i was whinin. i am thrilled to have what i've got. 2 silver cast 2 plain yelllow. in the oldest i can say i hae a male an female. the others are just to young to tell. the hatch for this weekend isn't gonna make. i candled all the last eggs dick sent me, due off 8/6 maybe???i think its just too hot to try and ship anymore so i'm planning to not set anymore but what may still be fertile from my senior cock bird. its rearin time.

Didn't hear any whining. I agree with it too hot to ship eggs. my incubator is off, for now. I am off of work until September 20th, so we will see what happens in the next couple weeks. Babies are growing and I am so happy with the pullets I have for the National. Getting everything ready for that too. Life is stress free. I agree I love pullet at this time too. They are my favorite, but my husband likes the boys, so that is why i am working on the cockerel line, this fall.

I have Lavender Orps, Cochins and d'Uccles, and I'm starting out with the bantams. I have the Cochins and d'Uccles in with the Favs, so it's all a toss-up right now, and we'll see what we get for shape. I'll likely pull the Cochins as soon as I move my Golden Lakenvelders, whom I've been trying to sell. I'm starting to think I should make an Ermine Lakenvelder instead...perhaps this is a sign (I'm just a bit batty and see projects everywhere I look!)...

I only have the LF Faverolles in pullets too young to lay, who've been sold for months but the owner hasn't come to get them. I have been feeding them forever, and the original $20 purchase is not looking profitable at all...It's made me consider just refunding her, but she's a friend of sorts.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what the genotype ought to look like for a 'normal' Salmon Faverolles? I've seen various estimates and understand there are possible differences.

Well, I just locked down the brit eggs...started with 8, then it was 6, and at lockdown I only saw really good movement in 2 of them, but left 4 in...
