He looks a lot like the blacks I hatched from Henry's eggs. Little to no beards. I'll see if I can get pics later, but it may be the weekend before I'm able to post them. Busy couple of days.

Oh yeah, one of mine has white leaking through on the breast and wings. It will probably go away but it's the first one I've seen with it.

The blacks are still work in progress. You don't know from time to time what you will get. After 6 years ith them, I am finally getting fuller beards and feathering on the leg. Now you see, that I culled alot.

I'm trying to be as critical as possible and cull the birds who don't 'fit' criteria. However, as Henry stated earlier, I've had to start from scratch, so I cant cull everything...instead I'm working to improve what I have and hope to have more genetic diversity by spring with eggs from some of you, and hopefully chicks/birds as well. Then I'll not be so 'bottle-necked' on lines and stuck in genetic mudd

That's the plan anyway, we'll see how it goes.

*ETS I'd also LOVE to work with white bantams eventually

My black roo and my black hen I won with at the National last year. Did he tell you they were from the same hatch.

No ha ha I have just been confused from the beginning well thats good news now I actually have a bunch of breeding options this spring when I get the quad from you.

Henry

It does get confusing keeping track of which bird is related to which!

Thanks for taking time to reply. I wish I had room to breed these chickens like I need to because they are such great birds. But, as you said, we are in the burbs, even though we have a 3 acre lot. My husband already thinks we have too many chickens. They really need more beard and muff? I thought they were doing pretty good there. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and have a great day!

I'm killing time by playing oine and checking the BYC pages and saw your post that you had the "grading sheet". So I went to your site and WOW! You have alot of great info. I bookmarked you!!! So my mom, who raises buckeyes, really liked your grading sheet and wants to design one for herself. I liked it as well it's a great objective tool to use especially for someone like me who is just learning what to look for. Thanks so much for sharing!!
