I hope to be right there with ya in a few days. I have one batch of Fav eggs due to hatch this Saturday (in the incubator) and another due on the following Saturday AND I think my Fav pullet is trying to go broody. She's been in the nest box all day and would not get out to sleep on the roost tonight so . . . maybe. What I am wondering about is could I put the batch of eggs (6 of them) that is due to hatch on Oct. 30 under her when they have about a week to go? IF she is truly broody, that would put her on the nest for about 13 days total (counting today). Would that be long enough to satisfy her broodiness? I'd be interested in hearing some opinions on this.

A friend of mine did this last minute with eggs that were only a few days away from hatching, and she did fine.

Thanks!! The pic was a nice surprise.

Well see what the bator looks like in the AM. If it's still a lonely chick i've got some week old orps and can get a smaller one to put with it for a few days until it's getting around good and can go in with all the new chicks.

Hi All
I will be candling my eggs tonight

. These eggs made a very long trip ( Oregon to Tennessee ) around 2500 miles by road. So I am trying not to get my hopes up to high

. I will post the results later tonight when it is time to turn them.

Glad to hear your getting some new babies.
