Faverolles Thread

That Mahogany hen came from directly from Sandhill Preservation....it was disappointing I must say. The neck feathers and tail feathers were too "sooty" in color and had some yellowish tint to the breasts.

I was not impressed with any of them so I got out of them to let the others do a better job of breeding Mahoganies in what they SHOULD look like.

No, I think those are just bad birds from hatcheries. I just shipped your birds out. You should have them on Thursday at noon.

Post pictures when you get them.

she's been going through her molt very slowly but her egg size has started to come up to a decent medium size and they are certainly a tan color! i wish she had less foot feathering but i think i have a sweet boy that can help offset that issue. i know i have to be careful with her line since i remember that her brother hatched with 4 toes instead of the 5 they should have. i'm afraid she may produce a few chicks with 4 toes.

eta: Buff, i think this is why you may have hatched a few of my eggs earlier this year with 4 toed chicks! she was in the pen with the blue salmon boy.

chickie'smoma - That would explain it!!

Less than week and a half until Ohio National and then flock of BBS favs come to their new home in Arkansas! Woohoo!!

I've got to come up with a new name for my "poultry operation". How can I aspire to be a successful breeder of awesome birds with a name like buffbeauty!! Ha. Made that my user name when all I had were my BOs. Now I've got them and 2 types of BBS orps and then all my favs! Suggestions?? Heehee

You are right! Mine were 'splatered' with soot.

Finally got a couple of pics of my pullet and roo. Had to put them in the bed of my truck to get a still shot of them! Just wanted to show off, but critiques are welcome. I do know of a couple of things that are off, but let me know more. They will be coming to Ohio. Hope the poor girl doesn't starve to death in the meantime because she can't see. I keep sweeping the feathers away, but that's the way they are. I may trim them after the show.
