Faverolles Thread

Yes, they all do.

Where did your birds come from?

The 5 chicks I hatched a little over two weeks ago had the same issue. One of them had four toes on both feet, one had four toes on only one foot, ad the other three had five, in various levels of acceptable separation. Both of the parents are fine - I don't get it, either.

My birds are Rose Isgrigg's line, but not directly from her.

Well, I've had a whopping total of 3 Faverolles pullets until now. The two hatchery girls started laying at 22 weeks and the one from a breeder started at 25 weeks. I have 2 pullets right now out of my hen that came from a breeder. They are 22 weeks and have not begun to lay although they are starting to squat so it won't be long I'm thinking.

genetics somethings also pop up in later generations.

Some don't have feathered legs either.
I think a buff might have got in there with them. I had some buff roosters but they were in separate pens. They guy I got them from told me they were in separate pens too. I bet he lied to me!!!!!

It does sound like a buff (Orp?) roo may have gotten in the pen, or he hasn't had them separated long enough. He may not know that there's a chance for a hen to lay a mixed breed egg for up to 3 weeks even after penning them separately.
