clutches with hatches 100% 8-12 each time. Now, Dick has had more for a while but hadn't said anything. oh, ok, just 1 more but when given the number of females he has as compared to my one he would be able to out produce me. be that as it is we're both happy to see 'em. i now have two with SUPERB characteristics. they may hang out for a bit. i'm continuing to hatch but breaking up the split pair.

as far as me knowing why the white coronation keeps popping.

Pics are great Peter...I've only been hatching Lav. Splash from my birds, as you well know, but the blues and blks arent to bad up to this point. Heres a couple pics of some girls (Peter you've seen these already

)... I know they still need work, but with each hatch I'm seeing "progression", so I'm pleased with that. Decent beard/muffs and very nice toes so far. Please excuse the 'naked butts...molt has begun

Good I am doing a lot of work with dairy cows here. Getting some heifers and cows into condition for show season over the summer. We have high hopes for some of the cows calving now and we might also flush (super ovulate) a few cows to try and get some more calves out of them. But hopefully this may or june I can hatch some eggs from Dick and get back into the Faverolles game I am moving into a house this summer in burlington and you are allowed a few chickens. I will decide if I am going to breed based on what I get out of the hatch if I get any superb males I might have to keep one and hatch a bit we will see though.

HI, does anyone have any thoughts why the white Coronation coloration comes thru so often????

I too have about a dozen splits and about one third are this coloration. Mom is LF Salmon, Roo is a Barnevelder cross, all chicks have 5 toes and most have beards.

Hopefully Dick or Peter can chime in on this one. It is weird, and it never came up with all the combos I put into the online genetics calculator. I'm guessing there's something hiding somewhere that doesn't come up with the calculator....

Faverolles are basically silver mahogany wheatens. In many breedings with different colors some chicks will carry the silver gene. When I bred a buff orp to a salmon hen I got some all white males and some white males with colored tails. I used a white male bred back to a salmon hen the following year to begin making the buff bantams. I need to find the rest of my notes.

We ran a working dairy for years. I was 'fortunate' enough (

) to get up every morning, milk 30+ head at 4am, clean dairy parlor and holding pen, then we'd rush out feed bottle calves, rush home to get a shower, eat (if there was time) and be ready for school by 8:15 am...LOL, can't say I miss it but hope your enjoying the process

Will be nice for you to have a house, I hope it all works out and you get to have your birds again and start another program. It all takes time, but sounds like you've got it all planned out. Glad to know your doing well, stay in touch hun...take care.

TY Cindy...Yes, I'd love more black genetics to work with. I'm hoping to get some eggs from Liesha possibly as well, so that would be wonderful, thank you. PM me if you like, I should be back online later this evening. Hope all's going well up your way, take care hun.

What did you milk we milk 34 cows half jerseys half holsteins we have 7 jerseys rated EX or above so we show them as well. We milk at 4am so then I go to classes after feeding calves and cleaning the barn. Good thing about the program is that there are 15 of us so I do it twice a week instead of every day. I also milk on another jersey farm that only has 8 cows but I milk with a surge.

I can send you some eggs too if you need them. Got one pen of Dick's line, one of Ron's line and a third with a cross between the two.
