Faverolles Thread

I was hoping someone could answer a question I have. I have a 7 month old Salmon Faverolle roo and two 5 month old hens. I got them from to breeders here on the BYC which, I believe to be pretty reputable breeders. The girls aren't laying just yet. I believe they all have good feathering, coloring and toe spacing. I am not sure the girls might be show quality. I am not sure though because, I have never done it. The roo is missing one toe nail other then that he is beautiful. If I were to sell them how much should I sell them for? How much should I ask if I sell the roo and one hen and how much should I ask if I sell the roo with two hens. I am sure there is different prices depending on quality would pics help?

Thanks,
Michelle

Yeah, we'd need to see pics, also knowing whose line they are from would help. But, I gotta ask...after all the leg work you did trying to find some, why on Earth are you selling them already???

Depends on your local market too. I can't even give away bantams around here. For example I took 6 POL bantam Fav pullets to a local sale and went home with all of them. Ended up taking them and a bunch more to auction. Still got more to go!

The hens came from eggs I bought from Cloverleaf and the egg the roo came from was from buff beauty. I will download some pics and post them in the morning. I haven't decided for sure I am selling them but, honestly I didn't realize how tiny they are. I am nervous letting them free range and they hadn't started laying yet but, I am sure the eggs must be tiny. I think the girls might be show quality and it just seems it might be good if someone who wanted to show them had them.

Well, if you advertise them, be sure to advertise the girls as pullets, since they are only 5 months old, they aren't "hens" yet.

Are you sure they are salmon? If they came from me they could be blue salmon or splash salmon girls too. There have been some VERY nice pullets come out of that pen this year, so if they are indeed salmons they could very well be show quality....

Get some pics if you can, and we can give you some prices. Be sure to get pics of beards, combs, toes and leg feathering if you can, as well as a side shot of each for body type...

Oh goodness, I will do my best. They get really excited when I go down there and they won't stay still. LOL!!! I am not sure if they are salmon or blue salmon. One doesn't look like she has any blue coloring at all. She looks Salmon and the other has blue at the edge of her wings. Is is possible I could have one of each? A salmon, a blue salmon and a splash. I have one other hen that I thought her coloring was messed up but, now that you say that I wonder if she is in fact a splash.
