Yes, Henry, those are some awesome girls.... I'm getting Gigantor's sister!

Should be here NLT Thursday....

I like the short/wide look, what a dual purpose chicken should look like - some meat on those bones and wide enough to cover a large nest!

Well Thank you Ohh and BTW I LOVE your Faverolles you got some gorgeous birds there

Thanks. That is great news! Glad to hear you will be getting there sister.

I agree about the the duel purpose nature of these birds. Exactly agree with both purposes of having wide hens.

Wow! I haven't been keeping track of things on BYC the last day or two and missed out on pictures of a lot of gorgeous Favs. I thlink the quality is getting better, and for that we should be proud. Congrats everyone.

I was talking to a friend last evening and he was thinking about possibly importing eggs (other breeds than Fav) from England. He claims shipping eggs isn't so bad nor expensive, compared to live birds. I know shipping eggs just around this country is a crap shoot, but has anyone given any thought of doing this in an attempt to enlarge our gene pool?

I had looked into importing eggs from Germany before since I am from there and still have family living there that can help me. I dropped the idea very fast when I found out that the paperwork alone costs around $2000 and that doesn't include shipping or the cost of the eggs. I think that's a bit much for eggs you can't even be sure will hatch. I have seen how my packages from there were treated, I'm sure they wouldn't be much more careful with eggs being shipped. I wonder if if would make a difference if someone would carry the eggs on them when traveling, though I think the price for importing would be the same.

it is on everyones minds, but the cost makes it impossible for most folks to even consider seriously

Sandiklaws did you make it to Lucasville?

I did, sorry if I missed you there. I talked a bit w/ Ron Patterson and will be getting some hatching eggs from him next spring (I hope), saw the 9 or so Large Fowl Favs that were there... burst my fantasy bubble of seeing hundreds of them LOL (well maybe 50) Hopefully even more will be able to show next year
