I ONLY HAVE ONE MALE AND HE IS BEARDLESS, WOULD IT BE OK TO SEE IF HE WOULD BREED SOME BEARDED?Many of us think so, yes. We're working hard on a breed that needs conservation. If someone starts breeding for traits that are breed DQs, like being beardless, that goes directly against what we're all trying to do...
I will take him he is so Beautiful I'm in Michigan is there anyone out there that could meet me half way or something?I am so sad.......my neighbors are complaining about my Handsome Boy's crowing in the am........ he needs a new home......![]()

He is just over 5 months old, he is from Dick Boulanger's flock......any takers out there??
Here is a picture from this past weekend
I am in Hudson MA,I will drive locally to deliver him to a good home & not to a soup pot.
I used to live right smack dab in the middle of the suburbs and at times had up to 8 cockerels. I kept them in something called a "show box" its was built to transport bantams to shows. I would but them in after they had gone to roost and then bring them out at around 7am or 7:30 on weekdays and later on weekends. My neighbors never seemed to complain to much about them and actually kind of enjoyed the sound of roosters after a while. My argument always was that they are much less annoying then the many barking dogs we had in our neighborhood. As long as your allowed to have roosters in your neighbor hood I would give it a try.Maybe I can crate him in the basement....I don't have a garage....maybe the dh can build me one of those too since he did such a good job on the coops!
I think the beardless gene might keep popping up over time. The best advice I could give is that if you want to breed quality faverolles you should seek out another male. Lots of people have extras.I ONLY HAVE ONE MALE AND HE IS BEARDLESS, WOULD IT BE OK TO SEE IF HE WOULD BREED SOME BEARDED?
Yeah I think I will stick with a tighter winged male. I looked again and only one of the pullets has a looser wing. You can see from the pictures the two from Cindy have very nicely folded wings and a few of the other girls do as well. And if your girls wings are good enough to handle that weak wing on him....he's got really nice color though!![]()
No. Cal, huh? Coming up to OR anytime soon? I've got a bunch of extra boys that should be pretty nice....![]()

Breeding birds missing body parts only perpetuates that flaw - it can sometimes take years to get that flaw out of the genes, if ever. There are good birds out there - it is worth the effort to try and find them to use for breeding.
Quote: See if you can find someone going to the Ohio National from MA - you could meet them there. I am coming from NJ. If someone could get him to me, I could bring him, but I frankly can't afford the gas to go get him. Even halfway is a four-hour round trip.
