Congratulations! See, you CAN hatch eggs that have been refrigerated!

It is hard to tell the difference, but the darker ones are BCM's and the lighter ones are Olive Eggers (BCM x Lav Ameraucana). I thought my Welsummer roo had mated one of my BCM hens...I was wrong. I'm going to try for that soon...just for more dark egg layers.

Edited to add...one of the dark ones is a Black Ameraucana x BCM.

I started with 10 from the fridge. Two never developed. Two were quiters pretty early on. One was a double yolker that I didn't realize until around day 7 or so, they only made it to day 9. And that left 5 going into lockdown. Of those 5 I have 4 hatched and one that is almost out, but as they say, Don't count your chicks before they hatch. These eggs were in the fridge for roughly 3 weeks before I pulled them out.

Thanks everyone! I think they are pretty darn cute, and very special to us!

Edited for spelling mistakes

I will be testing this for myself in a few weeks. I currently have a bator full, so I have to wait...now is the perfect time to put the eggs in the fridge I suppose! I want my own "first-hand" story.

We bought these bantams from our local feed store about 2 months ago. It appeared that they were a month old or so when we got them. He didn't have a clue as to the parentage, just called them "barnyard chickens".
