Favorite backyard mixed chickens?

Love this thread. I have not hatched any myself but bought Lavander who is a silkie cochin mix. Bueatiful sweet girl. I am also waiting for two crosses of a white silkie show girl and a white frizzle cochins. They are from the same lady who has great chickens. They are to hatch in the next few days and she will be sending me pictures. I feel like an expecting mother. She will be holding them until after Christmas because I will be traveling. Merry Christmas to me.

Who knows maybe all these mutt chickens will become expensive designer chickens like the dogs have become.

Here is my most recent pic of an OE chick...she's just over a month old. Her mom is a Lavender Ameraucana and her dad is a Blue Copper Marans.

I just love her coloring!

I don't know what colors she was mixed with. She has 5 toes, the silkie black eyes and a poofy head. There is a guy on Craigs list in my area actually stating he is breading this mix and that it actually was a bread. He called them Silkichins. I have not had a chance to do the research on that one. He was breading giant cochins with silkies and each time breading with the rooster out of the hatch. My understanding anyway. I love the mixes. I only have one pure bread dog because she has lots of health issues (pure bread) and the lady that had her could no longer aford her.

I have been meaning to post this picture. This is the ultimate "chocolate egger"...she is a Welsummer (mom) crossed to a Blue Copper Marans (dad). I can't wait for eggs this winter/spring!

Maybe that should be the next "thing". There are a million and one EE's. How about mutts that are CE's? Chocolate Eggers! I like it!

That's what I'm thinking. I'm going to concentrate on my OE's and CE's. I have plenty of Ameraucanas and BCM's and Wellies. I love the purebred birds, but the mixes are just as cool!
