Favorite Christmas song?

I just ordered 4 of TSO's cds. They are in Portland tonight, I think.

Well dang. If I knew that, that would be something I'd think about going to!

I really like that one Royicus. I also like Adam Sandler's Chanuka songs. And Silent Night, and Oh Holy Night, and What Child is This, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, The Grinch,,,,

Yonaton, That's a version of the Carol of the Bells/Ukranian Carol. The link from Royicus of TransSiberianOrchestra is another version of the same.

My favourite is We Three Kings...as kids, we were bored on Christmas, and spoonerized the entire 1st verse and chorus. Can still sing most of it without thinking....

Three we ings kof arient ore,
gering bifts, tree wavel fo sar...........

Well...the highest ranking Christmas carol of mine is We Need A Little Christmas, but it is the version by the New Christy Minstrels. That is number one, the others are not in any sort of order.
Christmas Canon Rock by TSO
I believe in Santa Clause Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers
Hard Candy Christmas Dolly Parton
Silent Night performed by Carlos Nakai

I couldn't believe after I finished my post that I forgot some of my all time favorite songs, and they happen to be Christmas, sort of.
A Christmas Festival, performed by The Boston Pops, and conducted by Arthur Fiedler

A'Soalin'/Esa Enai
Song for a Winter's Night
First Snow
Lord of the Dance

These last four are all on a particular album together and are phenomenal, at least to me. Sarah Mclachlan just released a version of Song for Winters Night. I've heard it and am not moved to vomit, but, it isn't the same. I will probably add more, I love Christmas music.

I have to say....The little Drummer Boy....mostly because growing up, my brother was the little drummer boy EVERY YEAR in the school play. He was always skinny, with dark curly hair...big brown eyes, and dark skin ( native american) We lost him in 1999, KIA as a police officer in New Bern, NC.

Another one is by Garth Brooks.... A poor orphan girl named Maria. Makes me cry every time!!

Mine is: Oh holy night.
When I was in High school our choir teacher organized a christmas event!!.
I went to a small town school, where every one was in the same building. I moved there when I was about 15. Fortunately I knew some of the kids. I loved to sing and had prior singing classes.
The year our teacher decided to include the whole school in the christmas chorale was the most fabulous for me.
The little kindergarten children up to the best high school singers were involved. And it was beautifull.
I was not considered the best student in Choir and my teacher was usually frustrated with me ( I had chronic bronchitis, not something recognized at the time in my community)
I give all the credit to my high school choir teacher Thelma Serrie (of Middleburgh, NY) for giving me one of the most memorable and spiritual moments of my life. (And in retrospect giving me every chance to sing with a good voice, in spite of my health issues)
I can still hear it: " oh Holy night...."

thank you Mrs Serrie
student of MCS, 1973
