Pineapple is by far #1 for me. It is an heirloom and I start my own as well.
I really like Opalka. Good for sauce or eating fresh. Freezes well too.
I have never heard of those Christie are they a classic flavor or on the sweet side???
My favorite are Brandywine and Rapunzel
They are on the sweeter side. Beautiful yellow tomato streaked with red. Large fruits, great for eating right out of the garden. I use them in my salsa too.
Seems like the Brandywine is a popular choice.
I tend to lean toward a red classic flavored Tomato it reminds me of my Fathers tomatoes. We would slice them and put them on white bread with Mayo and a dash of salt.
I am another that likes Opalka. I grow my own seeds, and get them off the beaten path. Tatiana's is my favorite source. http://tatianastomatobase.com/seed-catalog/html/
Other favorites are Costoluto Fiorentino, Rosso Sicilian, Gezhante for starters.
Thanks for all the response you have broadened my tomato horizon.
I start my seeds about first week of march. I start setting plants like tomatoes and peppers in the garden about mid may.
