Hmm this is such a tough question for me, as I have so many favorite chicken breeds. I love Brahmas, Araucanas, Sebrights, Silkies, Phoenixes, Leghorns, Campines, Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, Dominiques, Barbezieuxes, Isbars, Belgian Bearded D’Uccles, Belgian Bearded D’Anvers, Minorcas, Lakenvelders, Vorwerks, Thuringians. I think that’s all of them.
Haha!
Do you keep ALL of these breeds?
I have Brahmas and Hybrids, they’re so friendly and cute!

I so wish I had all of them! I have kept Brahmas, Leghorns, Sebrights, Silkies, a Phoenix pullet for a few days, and I currently have 2 Black Ameraucana pullets and an absolutely stunning Easter Egger hen named Wendy.

I like pretty "traditional" chickens. I have always been really fond of Barred Rock chickens- they are a very classic looking chicken to me! Of the 6 chickens I have now, I have 2 Barred Rock, 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes, and 2 Rhode Island Reds - all 3 1/2 weeks old (still just babies!). My barred rocks are so far the most social with me, which I like. I also voted for Wyandotte because I find all of them so beautiful. My Wyandottes have been very high energy from day 1- zooming all around the brooder and now the coop. My Rhode Island Reds are just kinda "there" - they just don't really stand out for any particular reason, positive or negative.

I think for everyone the answer to this question probably depends on why they have chickens. My dad loves Buff Orpingtons because they're pretty hardy and good egg-layers (his chickens are FAR from being "pets"), but I don't like that his whole flock looks exactly the same! I chose my breeds for their looks, and egg-laying, and I'm not really planning on trying to get any of them to be lap-chickens. Good question, it's fun to see everyone's responses!
