Meet Captain Jack Sparoo
He is a 16wk old Light Brahma cockerel.
He gets along with dogs but will chase away rabbits from the gardens.
He will make a fantastic rooster as he matures. He is always the first out the coop in the morning and the last one to go in at night. He makes sure all the others in the flock are in the coop, before he makes his rounds around "his perimeter" and then he makes his way in with the rest of them.
We WANT to keep him, but our neighbors are not gonna let that happen.
Me being overly happy with this boy, have tried everything (including a collar) and now we are being threatened with having the police called since we are in city limits.
They forage from sun up to sun down. He prefers this over the feed provided so he is pretty easy bird. He doesn't like to be picked up, but deals with it begrudgingly. He has never showed any aggression towards us or any of the other animals, but he will chase away anything getting towards their personal food plot (squirrels and rabbits). They have never been attacked by a predator, but he is quick to call out if he sees something overhead (hawks, crows, and airplanes). He will also usher any hens out in the open to under one of the several trees if he sees a "threat".
He was a little rough for a week or two trying to mount the other pullets (they have not started laying yet), but after a few corrections from one of them he has calmed down and stopped pulling and pecking at them. He has also started to outgrow everyone, and will probably be a big boy.
I know I may be over explaining, but I hate having to do this and want any potential owners to know what a good boy he is! He just, unfortunately, came to us before we can move out of the city limits.
I have a ton more pictures of him if you are interested.
TIA- Hope to hear from someone soon!
