Colours look different on different monitors and I understand there are at least two different egg colour charts in the US.
I would not consider the centre egg to be dark enough to qualify as a Marans egg, the rest could be considered a 4.

I was so excited when she told me that they were roughly a 6 on the egg chart. Then I saw the pictures...
I guess she meant very roughly.

Oh well, I guess my search will continue. I'll call the woman tomorrow and let her know that I won't be purchasing any chicks.

I don't think the color is good enough for the price... I am thinking 4.... Yes it is hard to get a great pic but if the one in the middle is an marans... It doesn't qualify....(or barely) and if it is not a marans the others are a 4 and just qualify... That doesn't justify the price....If you are still considering... I would get more pix... Amazondoc and you should start a Doby thread... That was a bonafide threadjacking... ha ha..
Surely in the territory you are in (Close to Norco) there should be ppl with great eggies. There is a member on here who has a closed flock that puts them up for sale...not chickies.. It is Onthespot I believe and she got hers from Donna.... Those are qualified stock... She would be forthcoming with all of the info you need... She may even know someone closer to you that has some from her... It doesn't hurt to ask.
