Feather color!

My 14 week old Sapphire Gem hen is starting to get some rusty red color feathers on her neck. Is this common? I only see Sapphire Gem Roosters with them.

I'm thinking you have a rooster. Any pointy saddle feathers? It looks like pointy hackles.

Weird! Where I got my Sapphire Gems the don’t have any Rhode Island Reds at all.
